Like her inspiration, Vidal Sassoon, Faith Ng did not plan on becoming a hair stylist.
She graduated from Singapore Polytechnic with a diploma in Architecture. Contemplating her choices for further study, Faith took on what she thought would be a temporary position helping out in her parents’ Neo Geo Hair Salon when one of their employees suddenly quit. But the hairdressing bug caught hold, and before she knew it, Faith was a budding protege learning the trade under the mentorship of her parents Daniel Ng and Lois Chew, both certified ITE trainers.
Seven years on and she’s not only earned under her parents’ guidance, but attended hair cutting courses at Toni & Guy, and hair colour courses at Shiseido and Arimino, as well as learning hair perming and rebonding every year from Japanese and Korean hairdressers to stay in touch with the latest hair styles, products and techniques. Colours have always intrigued Faith, and she loves to create colours that brings out the qualities of every client that trusts her with their hair.
“To me, hair is not about following and keeping up with the latest hair trends, but about identifying the unique hairstyle that will suit each client. When I know I’ve helped make my client feel confident with their look, I know I’ve done my job.”
